The latin sentence "Bellum se ipsum alet" means "The war feeds itself", and on this 7" EP we get a new, almost illegal dose of Warvictims; pretty standard crust a la 1995. Anyway, the song De bortgl�mda barnen blow me away.

The second tape in a series of three. The tape was made in 100 copies, three copies on green paper, 20 on pink and the rest, 77, on white paper. Approx 5 minutes after the last song there are a bonus track by Warmachine.

The idea to this compilation tape was taken from a local newspaper. A headline was to be read "Pentor emellan" and we though it fitted as a title for the tape.

Limited and individually numbered 100 copies. THIS IS ON GREEN PAPER!!!

Every once in a great while, a new band comes along with such intense fury that they capitvate all who hear and see them � APPALACHIAN TERROR UNIT is one such band. Hailing from the mountians of West Virginia, ATU belt out a thunderous chorus of eco-awareness and chastisement for mankind's destructive ways (or at least those who are in control). Musically they combine classic punk, crust, and a hint of metal into a sound that's likened to later years NAUSEA, totally reinforced by the strong female vocals throughout. Adding to the over-all amazing quality of this EP are additionals touches of brilliance, like the brutally powerful recording by Jay at the Jamroom in South Carolina (Antischism, Damad, etc.) and cover / poster art by Marald. Normally this sort of praise for a job well done is reserved for bands who have been around the block once or twice�not for the debut EP from a band barely formed a year ago. This energetic band has already completed one mini-tour of the US, is planning their second, as well as writing songs for their first full-length LP, due for release in 2008.

After several excellent releases in the past two years (including an EP, LP and split 10" and split EP) and touring extensively in North and South America, HELLSHOCK has become synonomous with Portland crustcore punk. This new EP, recorded in March 2005, contains two powerful and dark anthems against corporate greed and the state power which upholds it. They also have an new LP, entitled Shadows of the Afterworld, on Feral Ward Records and another EP entitled World Darkness slated for release at the end of May 2005. They will be embarking on afull US tour with Finnish legends SELFISH in June and July 2005, and will tour Japan with EFFIGY in October. Having made such a lasting impression is such a short time (so far) HELLSHOCK are poised to become join such legends as AMEBIX and MISERY in the Crust Punk Hall of Fame!

Mouth sewn shut - Doomed future today

Less than a year and a half after forming the band, Boston's MOUTH SEWN SHUT unleash their second LP on Profane Existence and show a much more developed sound than before. The music is mainly a brutal fusion of fast hardcore and crust mixed with reggae and ska influences into a raw and original sound all their own. The bands extremely catchy and unique blend of musical genres sounds rather different than what you might expect when you think of punk mixed with reggae or ska. MSS has created a much more raw and aggressive interpretation of reggae music that at no point loses any power or brutality. The lyrics are totally political, but also have a deep sense of dark cynicism that points out that so much of this world has already been destroyed beyond repair by it's human inhabitants and that we�re all running out of time. Severed head of state - Power hazard

Severed Head of State return with nine punishing new tracks. Hard driving riffs and angry vocals give this release a real fist pumping intensity. A lot of the songs are more mid tempo in the tradition of mid period Poison Idea and other hardcore punk bands that took some cues from Motorhead. Severed Head of State have been going for ten years now, but are a band with no geographic center and with all members playing in other bands. Guitarist Todd Burdette (Tragedy, His Hero Is Gone, Warcry) delivers some really searing guitar riffs on this LP and the guitar tone is perfect for the style, biting and corrosive like battery acid. Jack Control (World Burns to Death) has always impressed me with his raw and angry vocals and well thought out lyrics. A lot of bands write about the horror of war and man's inhumanity to man just because it's what fits the music. When I read Jack's lyrics I see that he's looking beyond the black and white pictures of war victims in the history books. The atrocities are not the result of one criminal act, but of the recurring process of unrestrained power and authority run amok. The bleak lryics and their focus on oppression and atrocity are a searing reminder that there is much to be done and things will probably get worse before they get any better. I've always though bassist Kelly Halliburton (Masskontroll, Defiance, Clusterbombunit, Resist) had some of the best style in hardcore dropping in some of his crucial Discharoge style "walking" bass fills. Drummer Chris Pfeffer (Signal Lost, Storm the Tower, Scorched Earth Policy) holds it all together with some sick and precise beats.

To What End? from Sweden was formed in 2001 including members from bands such as Wolfbrigade, Second, Asta Kask, Crudity, Sunday Morning Einsteins, Imperial Leather and others. in 2002 they recorded a demo just for the fun of it which later that year was released by Yellow Dog Records(Germany) as the History repeats itself 7". Female/male vocals, political lyrics, scandi-crust with heavy melodic guitar riffs, sometimes dark, sometimes metallic and sometimes punky but always powerful and emotional, a great mix of Totalitar and Burning Kitchen. This was a hopeful beginning that led to two full lengths and a split 7" with Witch Hunt is about to be released. Great band...
