Beundransvrt.

Musikaliskt r 'Rock n Riot' mindre ambitis.

Really good is what Protestera do in a punky way. Is they only half as political in the real life so are they all politicans in some years. Theyre so fucking angry so all old politicans should be very happy when they hear this group of this political caliber and they wish they have had a band like that when they did political career. Allt till alla (Everything to everybody), Borgarbrigaden (The boourgeoisie brigade) and so on and you can understand where they are. You can feel the fist in your pocket and you want to raise it when you hear this. I think that punkbands should be political and Protestera have really listened to that. 9 really tough songs and I dont want to mention Crass one more time but I have to. "One day we shall all, children of the uprising take back everything you have stolen from us" is so nice to hear so now I will go out and do a revolution.

Theyre from Sweden and they rock. Dual male and female vocals and a totally raging, crunchy kind of punk, with good guitar distortion and a catchiness to the rhythms. Reminiscent of Polish rather than Swedish punk. Raging and pummeling tempos, all quite catchy, a melody with heaviness combined and the vocals are usually delivered together which adds to the sound. Has an amazing mezmorizing layering quality.

Finally! A new fullength from this awesome act. More pissed off than ever, and with enough political rage to enflame your speakers as you play it, and to spark your dormant flame of revolution as you hear it! This music is filled with so much energy, and the lyrics with so much anger, that it instantly starts a reaction within the listener. And before you know it your teeth are grinding and your fists are bleeding as you clench them so hard. I may not agree to the core with everything they say, but it's impossible not to get affected by the power in this. And it's equally impossible not to feel the anger rise in you. So I have to say mission accomplish! Protestera manages to make me wanna make a change! This album is more diverse than the previous one Kampen gr vidare. It's more rocking, and there's even some grinding and an a capella part. And another thing that's new is the title track Rock 'n' Riot, which is in English. That's a first, and it works. But if you don't know Swedish you don't have to worry - All Swedish lyrics are translated, and explained, in English, as well as their political views. Enclosed in the booklet is a small manifest. And yet again I have to say mission accomplished, as there was apparently a police raid where they confiscated all the text books for the LP version of this album. And I can easily guess why - These kind of radical left wing views are not appreciated by most men and women in power. Easily the best stuff from Protestera, and I'd recommend it to any fan of punk, anarchopunk, hardcore and crust.

The second full-length LP from these modern-day Swedish anarcho-punk legends. Recorded back in 2002, but delayed while Anders did his prison time, this LP was well worth the wait. Full on powerful punk rock music (with an exciting array of styles and influences), mostly female vocals, and extremely well-constructed lyrical statements. This is one of those records that's just too fuckin good to pass up and helps reinforce why you do what you to combat the status quo. A total rock and roll riot and a kick in the ass for inspiration.

After almost five years of silence Protestera released a 7" entitled "Zora" late last year, and now they've released their second full-length. The material on this was recorded back in 2002 but due to some of the members going to jail after the EU-summit in Gothenburg in 2001 this had to wait. It would be interesting to hear something more recent from the band, but for now we'll have to do with this. And that's not too bad. In overview this is raging anarcho-punk with its fair share of slower, melodic and/or catchy parts thrown in between the more angry stuff. The lyrics are best described as pissed off with a lot of frustration, as well as hope. The booklet is massive with all the lyrics, as well as explanations, in both Swedish and English. A lot of reading while listening to this soundtrack to the revolution! In detail you'll, between the intro and outro, find seven tracks with both male and female dual and trade-off vocals bringing forth various lyrical topics such as women's rights, taking back what's ours, spending time in jail etc, all from an anarchistic point of view. And while I can't relate completely to all of it I still think they're really well written and the comments are really giving this something extra. Especially the ones to "De som stal solen" which among other things gives practical advice to someone who's facing jail-time. This record grows with each listen and from not being that impressed in the beginning I now like pretty much all of it. There are still a few tracks that don't hold up one hundred percent, but they're farther apart than the opposite. Favorites on this CD is the excellent title track, "Allt till alla", "Borgarbrigaden" and "Terroristpop".
